LEISTER LABOR “S” ESD SERIESA nozzle grounding system capable of dissipating static electricity through a common workstation ground. The system equalizes the electrical surface conductivity of the nozzle and the air hose by incorporating a low OHM conductor between the two surfaces. The air hose is made of carbon-impregnated silicone and is conductive. The ground cord incorporates a 1-mega OHM resistor. The resistor will provide isolation between the operator and the absolute ground. The resistor also reduces the electrical conductivity of the overall ground circuit. Conductivity of the circuit is not less than 1 x 10 6 OHM and therefore becomes static dissipative. Operational testing showed a constant dissipation of static electricity at 5.6 micro amps. These tools feature a nozzle grounding system capable of dissipating static electricity through a common workstation ground. The system equalizes the electrical surface conductivity of the nozzle and the air hose by incorporating a low OHM conductor between the two surfaces. The air hose is manufactured of carbon-impregnated silicone and is conductive. The grounding cord, which connects the tool to a common workstation earth ground, incorporates a 1-mega OHM resistor. The resistor will provide isolation between the operator and absolute ground (a necessary safety feature in case the ground should become positively charged). The resistor also reduces the electrical conductivity of the overall ground circuit. Conductivity of the circuit is not less that 1 x 10 6 OHMS and therefore becomes static dissipative. Operational testing showed a constant dissipation of static electricity at 5.6 micro amps. This design allows the tools to be utilized in a static free environment without adding to the variable electrical potential of the workstation. |
