The shores of Togiak Bay Alaska suffered an enormous environmental catastrophe when diesel and gasoline was spilled. contaminating the pristine environment years after significant efforts had been made to clean up the spill site, there were still looming issues of contaminated soil. One remote fish processing facility decided to cut their losses and sell their establishment In order to proceed, however, the fishery needed to come up with 812 million in cleanup costs. Not only were the costs overwhelming but so were the challenges that go into cleaning a remote 5-acre site. To make matters even more difficult there were no legitimate roadways and all equipment had to be either flown in or shipped by barge.

This Innovative solution dramatically helped the environment by cleaning the contaminated soil while simultaneously saving the owners of the fish-processing facility $13 million dollars.

The old way to clean up contaminated soil utilized a heating system with an open flame to boil off the water. In the process of boiling the water, harmful chemicals and contaminants were released into the air. It's necessary that this contaminated air be "scrubbed" before it is released back into the environment. The costs for undergoing this outdated process in a remote fishery amounted to $12 million. By working with Assembly Supply Company and developing a new and better soil treatment system using hot air tools and soil ovens to evaporate the contaminated soil, the price tag for the project came down by two thirds of the original price.
